Milford Mayor Says He’s Pleased With How RAGBRAI Went; Thanks Those Who Made It Possible

July 21, 2025

(Milford)– The Mayor of Milford says he’s pleased with how things went with RAGBRAI. Steve Anderson says it was a great time for Milford to shine…

“I ran into a lot of citizens that were just impressed at how many people were there and were able to walk around and see our town and every person from RAGBRAI that I saw this morning just thanked us and said they had an amazing time last night and yesterday. So yeah, pretty much it went pretty well I think.”

Anderson says there was one hiccup in which some RV’s and trailers started showing up about an hour and-a-half earlier than expected Sunday…

“We knew they were coming but we were expecting them to come about an hour and-a-half later than what they did. With them coming an hour and-a-half earlier we didn’t have everything in place to get everybody directed, so we had to make a quick change with that and, you know, yeah, we got everything going and I’d say by 11:00 everything was flowing pretty smoothly.”

Anderson says they compiled some notes for next time…

“We’ll get back together as a committee with volunteers and then RAGBRAI, they’ll come back in August and will do a re-cap with us just with what went right, what went wrong and how do we improve for next time, so.”

Anderson also thanks all the volunteers and city staff for their hard work…

“We had been working at it for almost six months now and man, the number of volunteers we had not just from our community, most of them were from our community, but we had people from Spencer and Estherville and we even had some of the riders came in and they actually signed up for volunteering. I was getting a little nervous about a week and-a-half ago because the volunteer list was looking pretty baron and all of a sudden everybody came out of the woodwork which was awesome. We couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers, all the committee people that put hours and hours and hours into this. The city staff, they’re still working now trying to get things back to normal but they have just been phenomenal, just amazing. So yeah, everybody pulled together, everybody did it and yeah, it was great.”

As we mentioned earlier RAGBRAI today is making its way into Estherville, the next overnight stop.
