(Milford)– The search continues for a new Chief of Police in Milford. Bob Clark’s retirement from the position was announced by city officials back on July 15th. Mayor Steve Anderson tells KUOO news an interim Police Chief is in place for now…
“Matt Myhre, he was assistant chief, is acting chief. And what we’ve done is we’re opening it up to applications to make it fair for everybody and those ads have been placed out there. And so we’ll wait and get the Employee Committee together after we get a few applications in, review them, and then start a process of hiring. At this point that’s kind of where we’re at, just waiting for applications to come in.”
Anderson says his goal is to have a new Chief named yet before the end of the summer.
In addition to that, Anderson says the Milford Police Department is about to move into its new digs. The city recently purchased the former AnnLeo building just east of the fire station…
“They’ll be moving into that building starting tomorrow. We’ll start moving the bigger office furniture and that kind of stuff and then the officers will slowly be working themselves getting files and all that stuff moved over there. A new phone system’s going to be going in there here shortly as well, so.”
Anderson added there may be a brief period where the department will be operating out of both the old and new facility before the final transition is made to the new one.
