Milford Fire Firefighters Battle Second Blaze In As Many Days

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– Another day, another fire for the Milford Fire Department.

Firefighters were called early Wednesday afternoon to a blaze at the intersection of 213th Avenue and 230th Street…not far from where they battled a grass fire on Tuesday. This time, Fire Chief Jim Carpenter says it was quite a large pile of landscape waste that was on fire, covering several hundred square feet. He says an excavator had to be brought in to tear apart the  pile so it could be more completely extinguished.

It took firefighters some three hours to get the blaze put out.

No injuries were reported.

Carpenter warns anyone planning on going any open burning to use extreme caution. He says the fire damage is increasing exponentially each day that goes by without receiving rain. He says the vegeation is becoming extremely dry and volatile.
