Milford Council Takes No Action On Proposed Weapons Ban

(Milford)– Another lakes area governmental entity has opted to take no action for now atleast on a proposal that would ban firearms and dangerous weapons from its premises.

The Milford city council Monday took no action on a proposed ban that would have affected any buildings and property owned, leased or occupied by the city. City Administrator Matt Skaret says the council took no action after hearing from about a dozen people that expressed concern over the matter.

In other business, the council set February 14th as the date for a public hearing on a proposed amendment to the city’s zoning ordinance pertaining to wind energy devices.

The council also approved the third reading and adopted an amended ordinance pertaining to the city’s snow removal policy. In the past, the city has rolled its plows anytime two inches or more of snow falls. The new policy states that plows will run with any accumulating snowfall, and that if a plow has to go around a vehicle, that vehicle will be ticketed.

Skaret says the newly revised ordinance will go into effect upon publication, which will be Wednesday, February 2nd.
