Milford Council Approves 6th Steet Utility Project Plans

November 22, 2014

(Milford)– The Milford city council Monday approved plans and specifications for the 6th Street Utility Project and set March 31st as the date for a bid opening.

Engineers on the project Monday presented a revised cost estimate of 1.6 million dollars…$425,000 over the preliminary estimate. Additional storm sewer work was cited for the increase.

In addition to the storm sewer work, the project includes replacement of water and sanitary sewer lines, street re-surfacing, new curb and gutter, and replacement of sidewalks and street lights.

City Administrator Matt Skaret says costs associated with new water lines will be split with Milford Municipal Utilities with the sewer work being funding through revenue in the sewer fund and a storm water utility the city plans to establish.

In other business, the council tabled discussion on participation in the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission; and they were receptive to a request from RIDES for $5,000 in funding for the 2012 fiscal year.
