Milford City Council Discusses Dangerous Intersection

March 14, 2023 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– There was more discussion at Monday evening’s Milford City Council meeting about an intersection the city shares jurisdiction with Arnolds Park. Officials with both cities say 202nd Street at the Kuchel Trail area has seen a lot of residential development in recent years, and that more is likely on the way. Milford Mayor Steve Anderson says the intersection is becoming dangerous given the current situation. He says the Milford City Council will consider scheduling a public hearing on the matter at their next meeting…

“And that will be for looking at putting a stop sign at that intersection on the city of Milford’s side and then also reducing the speed limit on 202nd Street, at least in the city of Milford’s jurisdiction, down to 25.”

Anderson says the reduced speed limit makes sense for one reason in particular…

“It’s zoned residential on our side and that should actually be down to a 25 mph speed limit, and so we’re going to look at that just to verify all of that information and then we’ll have that at the next meeting and we’ll hopefully set the public hearing so we can move that forward.”

The Arnolds Park City Council discussed the issue at their meeting last week. At least one member of that city council expressed opposition to lowering the speed limit in that area.
