(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday evening authorized city staff and the city engineer to look into putting in a permanent barricade at the dead end of a couple city streets in the South Shore Estates development. Mayor Steve Anderson says it stems from concerns residents of that area have over proposed plans for a campground at the former Woodlyn Hills Golf Course…
Residents of that area expressed opposition to the proposed campground at a public hearing on the matter last month that was held by the Dickinson County Board of Adjustment. Proponents argued it is becoming more difficult for families to visit the area given the decline in resorts and the high cost of other forms of lodging. The hearing was continued to June 6th to get additional information, including the location and size of a city sewer line across the road from the proposed campground. Anderson tells KUOO news the city has received some email correspondence from the developer’s engineer, but as of now there have been no formal talks.
The South Shore Estates area is within Milford City limits; the area of the proposed campground is within the jurisdiction of the county.
