Milford City Council Sets Terms For Sale Of Former City Hall Building

August 26, 2025

(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday evening approved terms to be included in the sale of the former city hall building. Mayor Steve Anderson says for one thing, the building will be sold as is…

“After a lot of discussion it was decided just to sell the building, the parking lots that are associated with that, and so that will happen. Right now there’s no minimum on the building.”

Anderson says a number of pro’s and cons were discussed regarding whether to sell the adjoining city-owned parking lot with the building…

“There are some businesses downtown that use those for their customers or their employees and so that’s where a majority of the conversation was. There’s a parking lot that would be to the north, behind the city hall but north of the post office. There’s a few people that use that. That’s actually, part of that is city parking, part of that’s on the post office building’s lot, so that parking would go away, it would be kind of north of the post office parking. Some of the businesses might have to have people parking in those public areas might have to use one of the parking lots to the north or to the south of the public parking areas there, so.”

One factor that led to council members deciding to include the parking lot with the building sale was that it could result in more favorable bids. When it comes to that, Anderson says there has been quite a bit of interest expressed in the building…

“There’s been a couple of service businesses that have looked at it, we’ve had a church look at it, we’ve had a possible restaurant look at it and some people just looking at it for kind of a business slash residence type of thing, so just lots of different ideas. As the council was talking tonight we would really like to see a business or residence go in there so we can get it back on the tax rolls and maybe bring a new business to the community.”

The city council Monday evening officially set September 19th as the deadline to receive sealed bids. The council will review those bids and take possible action during a public hearing at their September 22nd meeting.

Anyone interested in submitting a bid who hasn’t had a chance yet to tour the old Milford City Hall may still do so by contacting city offices.
