Milford City Council Adopts Wind Turbine Resolution; Has Second Thoughts On Removing Trees

July 24, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday adopted a resolution calling for a larger buffer zone between city limits and where wind turbines could be allowed. They’re seeking a three mile zone instead of the current 1,600 feet. City officials contend the current restriction isn’t enough and would restrict future growth. They’re asking other cities adopt a similar resolution.

There was also discussion at Monday’s meeting about trees on city right-of-way. The council voted to reverse action taken in 2022 to remove all trees from city right-of-way. It means that from here on, only dead or diseased trees will be cut down. It stems in part from action the council took recently to not remove trees partially on right-of-way and private property in front of a residence. The homeowner did not want them removed.
