(Milford)– The city of Milford has been awarded funding through the National Fitness Campaign. Mayor Steve Anderson tells KUOO news it will go toward a project to install some exercise equipment in a city park…
“It’s a nationwide program where they have a grant that we can kind of put in a little area of fitness in one of our parks. The council a couple of meetings ago approved to move forward with that and we were awarded up to $30,000 to bring this fitness kind of area into a park. We’ll be looking at little exercise areas, maybe a one or two phase project that we do. We could go back again and apply for additional funding for that, so. The initial thoughts are possibly putting it in Buchanan Park and putting it so that it’s closer to the bike trail so people coming off the bike trail could possibly swing over to the park and use that.”
Anderson says the city will need to provide some matching funds…
“The city will have to put some money forward and we’ll probably look at applying for additional grants to see what we can get to help make that thing come together, so.”
Anderson says a timeline for purchasing and installing the equipment hasn’t been established yet.
