(Sioux City)– A man who illegally re-entered the U.S has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in federal court in Sioux City. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 38-year-old Miguel Rodriquez-Chavez of Mexico pled guilty in May of this year to illegal re-entry as a felon. He was sentenced Wednesday.
Plea and sentencing hearings show on April 21st, 2021, Rodriquez-Chavez was arrested for domestic abuse assault in O’Brien county by using an alias. ICE officials were able to determine his true identity a short time later, learning that he was a citien of Mexico and that Rodriquez-Chavez had been removed from the U.S at least five other times.
Federal officials also say Rodriquez-Chavez has a history of serious and violent crimes.
