(Sioux City)– A Mexican man has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Sioux City after pleading guilty to one count of illegally re-entering the U.S.
36-year-old Sergio Govea-Lopez was sentenced to 16 months in federal prison.
At his guilty plea hearing on June 12th of this year, Govea-Lopez admitted he was deported from the U.S. on October 6th, 2004. He came into Homeland Security Investigations’ custody on January 27th of this year while he was in the O’Brien county jail on a charge of operating while intoxicated…third offense.
Govea-Lopez is being held in the U.S. Marshal’s custody pending transport to a federal prison.
