Mexican Arrested In E’Ville Sentenced For Illegally Re-Entering The U.S.

(Sioux City)– A Mexican man has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for illegally re-entering the United States.

41-year-old Jesus Velasquez-Estrada received the prison term after pleading guilty to one count of illegal re-entry as an aggravated felon.

At a plea hearing, Velasquez-Estrada admitted he was deported from the U.S. on January 9th, 2008. Velasquez-Estrada was taken into custody by Homeland Security investigators on April 3rd of this year following his arrest by Estherville police for driving under the influence.

Velasquez-Estrada was previously convicted on July 20th of this year in Polk county, Iowa of first degree harassment.

Velazques-Estrada is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
