Men Charged In Copper Thefts

(Emmetsburg)—An investigation by authorities in Palo Alto and Humboldt counties into the thefts of copper from field irrigation pivots has resulted in charges being filed against four men.

The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says a lengthy investigation into the incidents resulted in the arrests of 30-year-old Tyler Tinken of Clarion who was charged with two counts of 1st degree theft, 2nd degree theft and 3rd degree burglary. He was being held on a $40,000 cash or surety bond.

40-year-old Ricky Habben of Palmer was charged with two counts of 1st degree theft, 3rd degree burglary and 2nd degree criminal mischief. His bond was set at $40,000.

48-year-old Daniel Reames of Hardy was charged with two counts of 1st degree theft, 3rd degree burglary and 2nd degree criminal mischief. His bond was also set at $40,000.

And 36-year-old Nelson Troyer of Bode was charged with theft in the 2nd degree. His bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Authorities say all of the victims in the cases have been contacted.
