(Spencer)– This year’s Memory Walk in Spencer raised more than 17-thousand dollars for the Alzheimer’s Association.
Heidi Skattebo, Alzheimer’s Association Regional Services Director, thanked those who participated in this year’s event and everyone who contributed.
The walk’s most successful team and the winner of the Healthcare Challenge for Long-term Care Facilities was Longhouse-Northshire in Spencer. The team raised over 3,600-dollars.
The top fundraiser for non-healthcare teams was Kelly Schultz of Estherville. She and friends raised more than 1,500-dollars.
The top youth fundraiser was Andrew Christy of Spencer.
This year’s Memory Walk marked the 10th year for the event locally.
An estimated two thousand people in Clay, Dickinson, Emmet and Palo Alto counties have Alzheimers or a related memory loss disorder. Most are cared for at home by families and friends.
All proceeds raised by the local Memory Walk will go to support programs and services provided by the Alzheimers Association throughout the four county area.
The association has a branch office in Spencer. It’s regional office is located in Sioux City.
