(Undated)– Clean up will be getting under way today (Tues.) in areas hard hit during several rounds of severe weather that moved through the region Monday. One of the hardest hit areas was northern Jackson county, where some wind damage was reported between Heron Lake and Windom. A grain bin was reportedly destroyed northwest of Lakefield. A tornado warning had been issued at one point for that same vicinity.
In the Iowa Great Lakes, most of the storms were accompanied by hail and wind. One round brought hail ranging in size from golf balls to quarters, with scattered reports coming mainly from the west side of West Lake Okoboji, from roughly the harbor up to Cutty’s. Some tree damage was reported in Lake Park.
Conditions will be quieter and much cooler the rest of the week, with temperatures going back below normal.
