May Snow Storm Continues To Dump Snow On Iowa Great Lakes

November 22, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A rare early May snow storm is making May Day in the Iowa Great Lakes look more like a scene from a Christmas card.

These photos were taken late this (Wed.) afternoon in the area of the State Pier, the Arnolds Park water front and Preservation Plaza. About three inches of snow had fallen on the Iowa Great Lakes as of 4:00 p.m. with about 2 1/2 inches still on the ground, with more coming down as these photos were taken. Some of the snow was melting as it hit the ground, especially on paved areas, making them just wet.

Additional snow is expected overnight tonight (Wed.) into early Wednesday. The National Weather Service says another several inches could fall on the Iowa Great Lakes, with even higher amounts possible in southern Minnesota.
