(Spirit Lake)– Next week marks the observance of EMS Week. According to a press release from Lakes Regional Healthcare, Dickinson county has more than 90 volunteer first responders, 35 law enforcement officers, six dispatchers, nearly 20 DNR Lake Patrol officers, six fire departments, an underwater team, the LRH ambulance service and emergency department.
Specialized equipment is available for water rescues, vehicle extrication, search and rescue drones and gear to help reach patients found in remote areas including drones equipped with thermal cameras. One of the more recent additions is a Polaris Ranger outfitted for emergency purposes funded by donations through the Lakes Regional Healthcare Foundation.
EMS Week runs May 19th-25th.
