(Okoboji)-Legendary Singer Marilyn Maye is returning to the Iowa Great Lakes this week. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
Marilyn Maye will perform at Pearson Lakes Art Center August 20th and 21st.
The iconic singer says this will be her 65th summer to appear in Okoboji. “Consequently, having come during the summertime year after year after year, we made an awful lot of friends in beautiful Okoboji. I love it up there. I feel that I belong there as much as anywhere in The United States and it’s so lovely. Everybody loves music and they love fun and life. So, it’s a nice place to be.”
She adds that she spends much of her time in New York City, where she performed at Carnegie Hall last year. “Oh my, it was so fantastic. We did our two hour concert with a 83 piece orchestra, the Pops Symphony Orchestra there. We sold out, over 2800 tickets in that great big, beautiful place. The acoustics were so fabulous and people I hadn’t seen for years. So, it was a thrill of a lifetime.”
Marilyn Maye will take the stage at 7:30 Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Pearson Lakes Art Center in Okoboji.
