Marilyn Maye returns to The Pearson Lakes Art Center for two performances Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
The legendary singer recently performed at Carnegie Hall with The New York Pops, where she received 12 standing ovations. “The theatre is just magnificent. The sound is unbelievable. I just loved the feel of it all. I did turn to the conductor after a few songs and I said, nice club!”
Although Tuesday’s performance is sold out, Maye notes that a second show was added for Wednesday night. “This particular presentation that we’re doing is something that I just did in May at 54 Below, when we were there for 8 nights. It’s all positive and cheery, it’s all about love. These days, we need a lot of that.”
She adds that she’s looking forward to seeing all of her friends in The Iowa Great Lakes. “I know 4 generations of people personally up here, so it’s really a very special, special place in my heart. You’re all my best friends. I have people coming up from down south in Kansas City and Omaha, and people coming down from Minneapolis to see the shows. I’m so grateful to all of you that keep all of this alive for me.”
Showtime is 7:30 Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at The Pearson Lakes Art Center.
