Man Who Escaped From Custody In Storm Lake Has Been Captured

(Storm Lake)– A man who escaped from the custody of the Storm Lake Police Department was located last (Tues) night.

Officers were called to a residence in Storm Lake early Monday evening regarding a trespass incident. The suspect, 25-year-old Luis Rodriguez of Storm Lake, was taken into custody on multiple misdemeanor charges including 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, Interference With Official Acts, 5th Degree Theft, and 2nd Offense Trespass. Police transported Rodriguez to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center Emergency Room for a pre-incarceration screening. Rodriguez reportedly broke free from custody at approximately 9:15 Monday evening as an officer was escorting Rodriguez to a patrol vehicle. Rodriguez fled on foot to the area of the 15 hundred block of Shoreway Road.

He was located last (Tues) night. Rodriguez has further been charged with Escape From Custody, a serious misdemeanor.
