(Dovray, Mn)– A man wanted in a string of thefts and pursuits in recent days was taken into custody after leading officers on yet another pursuit Wednesday that went through two counties in southwest Minnesota. The suspect, Sean Eric Vanmearen, was arrested without incident.
Murray County Deputies located a vehicle on Wednesday known to be driven by the suspect, and deputies started to put up a perimeter when he began driving towards the two deputies, he then accelerated around them and they were able to identify him, leading to a pursuit. Deputies chased him for about six miles, when Vanmearen entered a rural Murray County farm-site. He then exited his current vehicle and stole another, as he has been doing for days now, and continued to lead multiple sheriff’s offices for a 40-45 mile pursuit in rural Murray and Cottonwood Counties.
He stole yet another vehicle near Westbrook, going through the town and leading the Westbrook school to go on a brief lockdown. The pursuit finally ended northwest of Dovray, where Vanmearen was taken into custody without incident.
During Wednesday’s pursuit, Vanmearen made at least 5 attempts to ram pursuing vehicles with stolen property.
As we previously reported, Vanmearen was wanted in connection to vehicle and property thefts in Murray, Cottonwood, Redwood and Blue Earth Counties in Minnesota and Emmet County in Iowa. He’s currently being held pending his court appearance.
