Man Sentenced For Illegally Entering U.S.

(Sioux City)– A Mexican man who illegally re-entered the U.S. has been sentenced to 9 months in federal prison.

The sentence against 23-year-old Isai Perez-Hernandez was handed down after he pleaded guilty back in March of this year to one count of illegal re-entry. Perez-Hernandez admitted he had been previously deported from the U.S. on two occasions. He came into the custody of Homeland Security investigators on January 29th of this year while incarcerated in Osceola county for public intoxication.

Perez-Hernandez is being held in the custody of U.S. Marshals pending transport to a federal prison.
