(Everly)– An Arnolds Park man faces drug and other charges after he was found asleep in a vehicle over the weekend in Everly.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called to the 400 block of East 3rd Street in Everly around 8:20 a.m. Saturday after getting a report of a man either asleep or passed out in a vehicle that was parked there. Upon arriving deputies found 30-year-old James Long of Arnolds Park asleep in a vehicle owned by a Sibley woman. A subsequent investigation resulted in authorities securing the vehicle and conducting an inventory of it, which turned up what’s alleged to be drug paraphernalia and over $5,000 in cash which was seized.
Long was arrested and charged with driving while barred, no driver’s license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A check showed Long was also wanted on four warrants out of Dickinson county.
Forfeiture proceedings were initiated on the money.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Spencer Police Department.
