A Laurens man faces criminal charges following a stabbing on Sunday, June 22.
According to a press release, Pocahontas Police Chief Alex Leu says police got two 911 calls from 200 Nelson Street in Laurens, shortly after 7:00 pm. The callers said someone had been stabbed.
Leu says one of the callers was the suspect, 49-year-old Mitchell Nehring. Investigators believe a family dispute turned violent.
Nehring allegedly stabbed the victim, who hasn’t been identified, in the neck. That victim was rushed to a local hospital and then flown to another hospital for what were described as “serious” injuries to their neck.
There’s no word on the victim’s condition. Nehring is charged with aggravated assault.
