Man Dies Following SW Mn. House Fire

(Heron Lake, Mn.)– A man who was found in a burning house in southwest Minnesota early this (Tuesday) morning has died.

The Heron Lake Police Department, Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Heron Lake Fire and Rescue and Okabena Fire and Rescue were called to a house fire at 1032 County Road Nine in Heron Lake around 2:43 a.m. this (Tuesday) morning.

Upon arriving firefighters found the home completely engulfed.

A man identified as 32-year-old Travis Paul Phelps was found in the house. He was taken to the Windom Hospital where he later died. Smoke inhalation is believed to be the cause of death.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The house was destroyed in the blaze.
