Man Charged For Cutting Down Trees On Someone Else’s Property

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– Here’s proof as to how important it is to know where your property line is at.

A Sioux Center man has been charged for cutting down some trees that didn’t belong to him.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 77-year-old Herman Brenneman is accused of cutting down 24 trees that were on his neighbor’s property. Authorities say a land survey determined the trees were not on Brenneman’s property, but his neighbor’s.

Brenneman was arrested around 11:00 a.m. Saturday on a charge of criminal mischief in the second degree. He was released after posting bond.

Authorities say the trees were cut down in October of last year.
