(Lakefield, Mn.)– A Lakefield man was arrested on a drunk driving charge following a crash Christmas Eve that sent one person to the hospital.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says it happened on County Road 20 between Lakefield and Okabena. Authorities say a 2020 Honda Pilot was travelling eastbound with 3 occupants. A 2014 Chrysler 300, driven by a 16-year-old female from rural Heron Lake, was travelling westbound. The Honda Pilot crossed the centerline and went into the westbound lane sideswiping the Chrysler. A passenger in the Honda Pilot was transported to an area hospital by the Lakefield Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.
After investigating, the driver of the Honda Pilot, 28-year-old Artimo Diaz Diaz of Lakefield, was arrested for DUI. He was also issued a citation for no MN Driver’s License and no Insurance.
The Lakefield Fire Department, Lakefield Ambulance, and Okabena Fire Department assisted at the scene.
