April 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– A Sioux Falls man wanted on a bench warrant for not making a court appearance in Dickinson county on sexual abuse charges has been taken into custody.

46-year-old Waylon Willard was charged with assault with intent to inflict serious injury—no serious injury…an aggravated misdemeanor; three counts of sexual abuse in the 3rd degree by force…class “C” felonies; and violation of a no contact order.

Willard is accused of performing a sex act against the victim’s will or by force in an incident alleged to have taken place in August of last year at a residence in Arnolds Park.

According to online court records, Willard pleaded not guilty and was released November 7th, 2023, after posting a $10,000 surety bond. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest April 1st after Willard failed to show up for a court hearing. He was taken into custody on Wednesday of this week and is being held in the Dickinson county jail on a $10,000 cash only bond.
