(Rock Rapids)– A two-vehicle collision at the intersection of two Lyon county roads Friday claimed the life of a Sibley man.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says 22-year-old Juan Armando Ayala of Sibley was southbound on Marsh Avenue when he failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by 49-year-old Loralyn Korthals of George.
Both vehicles wound up in the southeast ditch.
Ayala was pronounced dead at the scene; Korthals was taken to Sanford Hospital in Sheldon. There was no word on the extent of her injuries or condition.
10-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a Toyota driven by Ayala; eight-thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2007 Chevrolet driven by Korthals.
The collision took place shortly before 5:30 p.m.
