(Rock Rapids)– Authorities in Lyon county say they’ve identified suspects they believe are responsible for burglarizing and vandalizing the courthouse in Rock Rapids.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office says they have reviewed security video from throughout the building, adding that arrest warrants are being requested for burglary in the 3rd degree, a class “D” felony; criminal mischief in the 1st degree, a class “C” felony; willful disturbance, a serious misdemeanor; conspiracy to commit a non-forcible felony…a class “D” felony; and reckless use of fire/explosives or a destructive device…a serious misdemeanor.
As we reported previously, the incident took place during the overnight hours Tuesday night. Significant damage was reported. It was discovered when a county employee showed up for work Wednesday morning.
The Lyon County Courthouse is expected to be closed the rest of the week.
