Lyon County Authorities Arrest Burglary Suspect

(Rock Rapids)– Lyon county authorities say they’ve arrested a suspect wanted in connection with several area burglaries.

Deputies say 39-year-old Jeremy Rutledge of Doon was arrested Monday along the Rock River northwest of Doon and was charged with possession of burglary tools…an aggravated misdemeanor.

Rutledge’s vehicle was impounded and authorities obtained a search warrant for it and his residence. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office searched the vehicle while DNR officers, the Iowa State Patrol, Sioux Center Police, Sheldon Police and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the search of the residence.

As a result of the searches, authorities say additional charges were filed Tuesday against Rutledge, including burglary in the third degree…a class “D” felony…for a burglary that occurred at Icon Ag Solutions on October 21st of this year.

Rutledge was charged with an additional count of burglary in the third degree for a burglary at the Otter Valley Golf Course on September 25th of this year; he was also charged with criminal mischief in the fifth degree for damage done at the golf course.

A third count of burglary in the third degree was filed against Rutledge for an attempted burglary at the Last Call Saloon in George on September 26th of this year; and he was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon stemming from a shotgun and 556 ammunition shells that were found in Rutledge’s home.

Authorities say their investigation continues and more charges and more arrests are expected by the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office along with several other agencies.
