Lyon County Attorney Carl J. Petersen appointed District Judge of Third Judicial District

Rock Rapids –

Lyon County Attorney Carl J. Petersen has been appointed as a District Court Judge of the Third Judicial District by Governor Branstad and has filed his oath of office with the Iowa Secretary of State.  

He will begin his work as a district judge on October 1, 2012, and will be sworn in at a ceremony on Friday, October 26th, at the Lyon County Courthouse in Rock Rapids.

Petersen fills the position created by the retirement of John P. Duffy.   

Judge Petersen lives in Lester and has served as the Lyon County Attorney since May of the year 2000.  Prior to his work as a county attorney he was in private practice in Atlantic.   He grew up on a farm south of Harley, Iowa.
