LRH Named Top 20 Rural & Community Hospital

March 19, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– Another area hospital has been named a Top 20 Rural and Community Hospital in the country. Lakes Regional Healthcare made the cut for the honor from the National Rural Health Association. LRH President and CEO Jason Harrington says it’s in addition to the hospital also being named a Top 100 Rural and Community Hospital in the U.S…

“Actually the National Rural Health Association uses similar data to Chartis who does the Top 100 Rural and Community Hospitals. They have a couple of additional indices to include market share, inpatient and outpatient, patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, the overall cost of care, and kind of how we overall manage our finances. So, yeah, we were very excited to receive the notice and a little bit different than the Top 100 with some of the similar data.”

It’s the third time Lakes Regional Healthcare has been named a Top 20 Rural and Community Hospital…

“Part of those three years having been through covid as well I think makes that honor that much more exciting for us and I think for people in the community they should have a great deal of confidence that even through the pandemic we were able to maintain that level of quality and patient satisfaction and safety, I think speaks well to my healthcare team here. I’m extremely proud of them. Healthcare is a team sport. I say that all the time. So extremely proud of our team here and excited to get that communication from the National Healthcare Association.”

As we’ve reported previously, Lakes Regional Healthcare was also recognized as a 5-star hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. It’s the 6th consecutive year LRH has received that distinction.
