LRH Fire Call Turns Out To Be False Alarm

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake Fire Department was called to Lakes Regional Healthcare Wednesday evening for what turned out to be a false alarm.

Fire Chief David Kollasch tells KUOO news firefighters were called to the hospital around 6:30 p.m. after getting a report of alarms going off in the building. Upon arriving, Kollasch says firefighters were informed some workers in the basement removing asbestos accidentally sprayed water onto a sensor for the alarm system, setting it off.

Kollasch says no evacuations were necessary as maintenance crews knew right away what had taken place.

Firefighters were on the scene about 15 minutes.
