(Spirit Lake)– The longtime Executive Director at Camp Foster is stepping down. It was announced today (Thurs.) Josh Carr is moving on to a new position. Carr tells KUOO news there’s a lot he’s going to miss after 17 years at Camp Foster…
“Oh man you don’t have enough time on the radio to talk about all the things I’m going to miss. But one of the things I’ll really miss the most will be the families and the interactions I have with the families. They’ve been amazing, coming from all over the country and all over the world. And then, obviously the staff. There’s been staff also from all over the country and world, different age groups that have made a huge impact on this place as well as on me.”
Carr adds he’s leaving Camp Foster at an exciting time for the facility, which held a groundbreaking earlier this week on some upcoming improvements…
“I’m very pleased, very proud I’ve been a part of that journey and I wish them the very best with what’s coming in the future, because hopefully it’s setting the YMCA up for some big things in the future.”
While there’s a lot he’s going to miss about his tenure at Camp Foster, Carr says he’s also looking forward to what lies ahead for him…
“I’ll be helping out at First Lutheran Church in Milford, Iowa, helping you families, young adults, and youth.”
A press release says the YMCA of the Okoboji’s has immediately started the search for a successor for Carr’s position.
