Locally Conducted Survey Shows Consumers Are Making Changes At The Meat Counter

October 24, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Inflation is apparently changing the habits of consumers at the meat counter. Beth Doran is a beef specialist with Iowa State University Extension and Outreach…

“They were buying different cuts. When you asked about what cuts they were going to, ground beef came through loud and clear, that they were buying more ground beef.”

She says there’s another change as well…

“The other major change that they made was they were buying a lot of times the same type, it might be the same brand or cut or package size, but buying fewer of those packages.”

Doran says the information was gathered in a survey she conducted at this year’s Clay County Fair.
