(Spencer)– Officials with the Iowa Department of Natural Resoures are gearing up for their annual series of REAP assembly meetings throughout the state.
The sessions will be held September 21st through October 28th.
The Resource Enhancement and Protection Program has a 20-year 250 million dollar funding history for parks, soil, water and habitat improvements, roadside prairies, historical development and conservation education.
The assemblies include an election of delegates to serve on the REAP Congress that convenes January 19th in the House of Representatives.
The REAP assembly meeting for our area is set for October 6th at 7:00 p.m. at the Clay County Regional Events Center in Spencer. The meeting is for Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, Emmet, Lyon, O’Brien, Osceola, Palo Alto and Sioux counties.
Legislators appropriated 18 million dollars in each of the past two years for REAP. Supporters are still pushing for full funding at 20 million dollars.
