Local Home Health Provider Changes Hands

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A local home health provider is changing hands.

It was announced today (Tues.) the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society has purchased the Gentiva Home Health Agency in Spirit Lake effective January 30th. The new entity is now called Good Samaritan Society Home Care.

With the Spirit Lake purchase, Good Samaritan Society now offers healthcare services at 22 locations throughout Iowa. Services include skilled nursing, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, assistant living, senior living, affordable housing, home health, hospice and memory care services. They’re planning to expand those in the future to include companion services, transportation, homemaking, and so on.

Gentiva Health Service, a Medicare-certified home health agency, provided skill care in 14 counties in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota for more than 25 years. Officials with the Good Samaritan Society say they’ll continue to provide services in Dickinson, Clay, Palo Alto, Kossuth, Emmet, Osceola, O’Brien, Buena Vista, Cherokee and Lyon counties.
They add they have future expansion plans.

Good Samaritan officials say many of the Gentiva Health Service staff will continue to work under the new ownership and that Robin Lock, RN, will continue as Director.

They will still be located at the junction of Highways nine and 71 in Spirit Lake.
