(Spencer)– The high cost of materials is continuing to cause headaches for municipalities and other governmental entities. The Spencer City Council earlier this week rejected a bid for a project to repair a number of storm water intakes. Only one bid was received. It came in at a little more than $68,000, well above the engineer’s estimate of a little more than $54,000.
City officials plan to combine the project with another one next year in hopes of getting better bids.
