Local Fire Dept. Awarded Federal Funding

(Washington, D.C.)– A northwest Iowa fire department is one of six in the state awarded funding through the latest round of grants from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.

The Primghar Fire Department will receive $42,275 through the program that helps departments purchase equipment, improve facilities and implement health and wellness programs. Fire departments can submit proposals to receive funds for new fire trucks, hoses, protective equipment, rescue vehicle and training for emergency personnel.

A total of $645,387 was awarded to Iowa in the latest round of grants through the program.
