(Emmetsburg)– A local organization has been awarded funding through the DNR’s Solid Waste Alternatives Program.
Horizons Unlimited of Palo County, Incorporated of Emmetsburg will receive $9,994 for equipment that will help with processing recyclable items as part of an expansion that’s expected to keep an additional 48 tons a year out of the landfill.
The Solid Waste Alternatives Program provides grants and loans for projects that reduce the amount of waste generated and landfilled in Iowa through waste reduction, recycling, operational efficiencies and education efforts.
Horizons was one of five entities granted funding through the program.
