Local Entities Awarded Funding Through Empower Rural Iowa Grant Programs

(Des Moines)– Some local entities have been awarded funding through several Empower Rural Iowa Grant Programs.

The Spirit of Okoboji group and the city of Hartley will receive funds from Rural Enrichment Grants. The Spirit of Okoboji was awarded $20,000 for their “OkoboTree project, which identifies expired trees with local partners, secures donors, and contracts with artists to transform them into natural art. The Hartley Improvement Foundation was awarded $20,000 to construct a recreational trail around the perimeter of the city of Hartley.

The Estherville Chamber of Commerce will receive $1,000 through the Rural Leadership Bootcamp Grant Program, and the Storm Lake Regional Center of Iowa Central Community College was awarded $20,000 through the Rural Scale-Up Grant program for career technical education courses.
