(Sioux City)– A Hartley couple has pled guilty in federal court to conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.
25-year-old Blair Burrell and 24-year-old Shanta Brown, both of Hartley, also pled guilty to two counts of distributing and aiding and abetting the distribution of crack cocaine.
At a plea hearing Monday, Burrell and Brown admitted they conspired to distribute more than 200 grams of crack cocaine in the Sioux City and Hartley areas from October, 2009 through March, 2010. Burell admitted he distributed crack cocaine to an undercover officer within a thousand feet of the Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn Community School on December 1st, 2009. Brown admitted she distributed crack cocaine to an undercover officer within a thousand feet of Chris Larson Park in Sioux City on May 7th, 2010. Both admitted distributing and aiding and abetting each other in distributing crack cocaine on February 18th of this year to an undercover officer.
Sentencing for the two will be scheduled once a pre-sentence report is complete. They remain in the custody of the U.S. Marshal in the meantime.
The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation; and the Spirit Lake Police Department.
