Local County Receives More Than $374,000 In Fema Assistance

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– The amount of disaster assistance received by one county in the area as the result of last summer’s severe weather and flooding continues to grow.

Officials with FEMA announced Thursday Palo Alto county has received 374,668-dollars in federal assistance as the one year anniversary on the event draws near.

The amount includes funding awarded for individual assistance as well as public assistance programs, along with disaster loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Under the program, Palo Alto county will be able to tap into some of the funds for repair or restoration of public infastructure damaged during the disaster.

Certain non-profit groups providing essential services also may be eligible for reimbursement through the program.
