(Undated)– Several communities in northwest Iowa will benefit through a program sponsored by the Monsanto company. “America’s Farmers Grow Communities” allows farmers to register to win $2,500 for their favorite community non-profit organization. One winner is selected annually in each of 1,245 counties in 38 states, including Iowa.
This year’s local winners include Duane Van Kleek for Dickinson county, who’s named the Terril Fire Department as the funding recipient; David Solberg is the winner from Emmet county, who named Emmet County Shooting Sports as the recipient; Jay Hofland was the winner for O’Brien county, who selected the Sanborn Fire Department as the recipient of the funds; Wayne Williams was the Clay county winner, with the funds going to the Webb Community Fire Department; and Mary Banwart was the winner from Palo Alto county. She designated the West Ben Shelter/Picnic area as the recipient of funds.
Monsanto also recently started up a similar program, titled “Grow Rural Education”, through which one school in each Iowa crop reporting district will receive a $10,000 or $25,000 grant.
