Livestock Producers With Weather-Related Losses Urged To Apply For Assistance

(Spirit Lake)– Area livestock producers that sustained losses due to the recent heat and humidity are being urged to apply for assistance through the Livestock Indemnity Program.

Larry Lago of the Dickinson County Farm Services Agency tells KUOO news producers have 30 calendar days from when the losses occurred in which to apply.

Lago says payments through the program will be based on 75 percent of the fair market value of the livestock as determined by the Farm Service Agency.

Lago says those applying for the asssistance will need to provide several forms of documentation, such as rendering truck receipts, veterinary certifications, financial statements, etc.
