Little Sioux Watershed Flood Control Study In Line For Federal Funding

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– A study of the Little Sioux Watershed may be getting some federal funding through the U-S Senate Appropriations Subcommittee that funds energy and water projects.

Of the more than 10.7 million dollars awarded for various flood-control projects throughout Iowa, 50-thousand dollars will go toward a study of the Little Sioux Watershed. The study is part of a post 2008 flood evaluation.

The funding is included in the subcommittee’s fiscal year 2010 Appropriations Bill, which is expected to be approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee today (Thurs. 7/9) before going to the full Senate for consideration.

U-S Senator Tom Harkin is a member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee.
