(Spirit Lake)—The deadline to apply for assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program, or LIHEAP, is quickly approaching. The application deadline is April 30th.
The program isn’t designed to pay a household’s total energy costs, but is intended to provide supplemental assistance based on total income in the household, the size of the household, dwelling type, type of heating fuel, and other factors.
Households over the program’s income guidelines may also qualify through a medical waiver component. Medical expenses must be documented, paid and non-reimbursable.
Anyone who has already applied and approved for this heating season cannot re-apply.
