(Spirit Lake)– April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and you can show your gratitude to the volunteers of LifeServe Blood Center by giving blood. LifeServe PR/Marketing Director Tim Paluch, says the volunteers are an important part of their mission…
“One interesting stat we just put together last year. In twenty twenty five, Life Serve volunteers drove collectively more than one million miles. They’re the ones who are, for the most part, you know, taking the tested and approved blood to each community hospital every day and things like that. So it’s just a good reminder that this is an operation that requires lots of people and lots of departments and lots of help to get the end result, which is making sure that hospitals have the life saving blood they need. And, you know, the step one is those volunteer blood donors.”
LifeServe sees a drop in donations in April and Paluch says they are trying to combat that…
“The only thing we say right now is just make sure you can. If you make your appointment, keep your appointment or call us, text us, email us, whatever. And we will reschedule that for you because we just need to, you know, just kind of manage our blood supply when it comes to the hospitals because we’re entering in the busy season, the summer months where demand goes way up and supply starts dipping down as people get busier. So we’re trying to kind of front load that and make sure in April we can really pump up the supply to kind of help us carry over.”
All donations through LifeServe stay local so by giving blood you are helping local residents.
